Wisconsin Public Education Network named 2018 Friend of Education

We are honored and thrilled to share that Wisconsin Public Education Network (that’s all of us!) has been named a 2018 Friend of Education by Dr. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

This recognition is an affirming sign that the work that is taking place all over the state to support strong public schools matters – and is making a difference.

THANK YOU to everyone who shares in this award by being a part – big or small – of the growing coalition to stand up for our students and their public schools, and to Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Tony Evers and the team at DPI for the much-appreciated recognition of local level action that has statewide impact.

The award will be presented at the Sept. 20  State of Education address at noon in the Madison State Capitol rotunda. Following his annual address, Dr. Evers will present awards to Wisconsin’s Teachers of the Year and Friends of Education. What an honor to join this great group of worthy recipients!

We invite you to attend as one of the many recipients sharing this honor statewide, and to join us afterward for a celebration reception in Room 328 NW of the State Capitol, followed by a WPEN meeting and #VotePublic Power Hour (from 2-3:30 pm). We want to maximize our time together by holding our September meeting after the event, and take advantage of our time in the statehouse to send a positive message of support for our students. PLAN TO JOIN US!

Please click here to see the agenda and RSVP for the address/reception and/or WPEN meeting that follows. All are welcome!

Please consider wearing  your #GoPublic or I Love My Public School & I Vote shirts if you have one so that we can send a message that this award belongs to all of us!  (Need a shirt? Come early and we’ll hook you up – suggested donation $10).

We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate the good work you do to support our students and schools.
