Partner Event: ALL RISK, NO REWARD FOR PUBLIC ED: WHAT’S AHEAD FOR THE FEDERAL VOUCHER PROGRAM Hosted by Public Funds Public Schools & Partners
Public Funds Public Schools, the National Coalition for Public Education, and several more public education advocacy groups will co-host a webinar to provide the latest updates about the federal voucher law enacted in 2025, and share resources for advocacy encouraging states not to opt in to the harmful program.
The “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” created a federal tax credit voucher program that lets taxpayers contribute up to $1,700 annually to a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) in exchange for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit. The voucher scheme carries tremendous risk for public education, which may be compounded by forthcoming regulations from the federal Treasury.
This webinar will explain the voucher program’s framework, indications that states will only have a rubber stamp role if they opt into the program, and the potential impact on students and communities.
The webinar will feature:
- Representative Julie von Haefen, North Carolina House of Representatives (District 36)
- Damaris Allen, Executive Director, Families for Strong Public Schools
- Sasha Pudelski, Director of Advocacy, AASA
- Jessica Levin, Director, Public Funds Public Schools
