This session will provide educators with a basic legal update on a variety of pressing matters that impact K-12 public schools. For example, issues surrounding student discipline, student injury, religion in schools, FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), social media and teachers’ SPEECH RIGHTS, book bans, curricular challenges, and other emerging topics will be discussed. This update will be useful to classroom teachers/aides, school leaders, school board members, parents, and others interested in school legal issues.
PLACE Exchange: Education Law Webinars
PLACE (Professional Learning and Community Education) is pleased to introduce PLACE Exchange, a new forum where UW–Madison faculty and staff come together with educational and organizational leaders, community members, and families to engage in thoughtful dialogue around key educational topics, ideas, and questions.
To launch this program, we are offering an Education Law series featuring three live webinars led by UW–Madison expert Suzanne Eckes.
Free and open to the public, these sessions invite teachers, administrators, community members, and families to bring their questions and participate in one, two, or all three of the webinars. While we look forward to you joining us, AI assistants and recording bots are strictly prohibited from this event.
