Video Celebrating Public Education in Wisconsin Nominated for Midwest Emmy

Features “Wisconsin Foodie" host Luke Zahm reuniting with his 6th grade teacher

A video showcasing how public schools unite us has received a Midwest Emmy nomination.  The video follows PBS Wisconsin’s Wisconsin Foodie host Luke Zahm as he is reunited with his 6th grade teacher at Luke’s Owl Farm outdoor kitchen near Viroqua Wisconsin.  His teacher, Jennifer Carr, had a great time meeting up with her former student and learning how to cook local vegetables and a pizza with the famous chef.

The video is funded by the Wisconsin Public Education Network (WPEN) and is part of their Public Schools Unite Us videos series.  "Steve Betchkal and Micah Davis have a remarkable gift for getting straight to the heart of the story. Their masterful peek into Jenny and Luke's relationship reveals instantly what we value most about thriving public schools - the love, joy, and personal connection that is so central to every student's success. This video is testament to the lifelong impact public school educators make on their students, and a beautiful reminder of how our public schools unite us ,” says Heather DuBois Bourenane, executive director of Wisconsin Public Education Network.

Creative duo “Story Time with Steve & Micah” are no strangers to the Emmy spotlight; they have a combined forty nominations and seven Midwest Emmys.  “We had a blast kicking it with Luke and Jenny while filming. Luke was a generous host, the setting was so peaceful, the food was top notch and it was good vibes all around,” said videographer Micah Davis.  "Luke and Jenny have a history that's real, meaningful, and charming! All we had to do was turn the camera on,” said writer Steve Betchkal.

Midwest Emmy winners are announced on October 18.
